I purchased this pack to carry the new lightweight gear I had bought over the preceding months and I was not disappointed with how it performed.

I set off for 10 days along the overland track with a pack full of gear and food which weighed, including water, just under 14kg. This, in my mind is what the pack is designed for, ultralight trips along established tracks. I doubt the materials would hold up to off track walking, especially in Tasmania.

However in this realm of established tracks and light loads it was an impressive pack. Not once in the 10 days did the pack feel uncomfortable, nor was I left wanting more from it in terms of space or features.

The rear facing pockets made having a drink and re-stowing the bottle on the move a cinch. The light frame transferred the minimal load to the hips efficiently and the shoulder straps remained comfortable. It was nice arriving at the end of the days walk without pain or tenderness.

The pack in a large size weighs in at 900grams and features a normal top lid with zippered access, mesh bellowed pockets around the sides and front of the pack, compression straps, Sternum strap and a hip belt. This means in comparison to other lightweight or ultralight packs you get quite a lot of features.

I found the fit of the pack so good that I went out and purchased one of Osprey’s standard packs for trips that require more robust gear.
